Full Job Description

A temporary position has become available at our Milford Haven Terminal, Pembrokeshire for an experienced IT Desktop Support Engineer. The role could potentially develop into a permanent role after the contract period. The successful applicant will work full time hours and be required to provide effective and skilled IT assistance to all UK Terminals including Belfast and make regular site visits to our Rotterdam Terminal and Greece as required. Reporting directly to the UK IT Manager, the successful applicant is responsible for supporting and maintaining all IT related hardware and software (network comms/servers/desktops/laptops/printers) as well as supporting and assisting in the maintenance of all OT Infrastructure. This will include but is not limited to CCTV, ACS, UPS, Storage/Backup, Power, Mobile Phones and Wireless devices installed onsite. The position provides exposure to a broad range of IT-related projects and activities with a skilled and dynamic team.

Duties/Areas of Responsibility:
The position will involve but is not limited to the following areas of responsibility:

· Diagnose and resolve day to day technical issues

· Promptly escalate IT issues to the management team

· Undertake small to medium-sized IT projects

· Provide End User and Remote support throughout UK, Netherlands + Greece regions.

· Providing basic support and troubleshooting on APC and related UPS/Cabinet Power equipment

· Support and maintain Server, Network and Server room under instruction from global teams

· Set up and configure new equipment in line with business expectations

· Adhere to and actively work to maintaining global IT standards

· Carry out user training/inductions

· Install and troubleshoot authorised software

· Ensure security/antivirus and upgrades are applied correctly to end user equipment.

· Responsible for logging and tracking warranty repairs

· Reporting faults and maintaining records on server and site outages.

· Manage internal user/desk moves including peripherals and printers

· Patching of network and phones

· Ensure housekeeping is maintained to ensure equipment is in a functional state and to avoid hazards

· Complete daily site checks

· Submit weekly reports to the UK IT Manager

· Request and track IT purchases

· Prepare documents, meeting materials and correspondence and perform basic administrative support duties

· Assist the IT department with additional activities as required

  • Applicants must have a full UK driving licence and available for travel to UK and Europe

  • Eligibility to work in the UK

  • 2-4 years' experience with an IT qualification (degree or equivalent) ideally in the oil and gas industry

  • Strong communication and customer service skills across all levels of an organization with proven ability to support the management and end users.

  • Strong written and spoken English is essential, additional languages are advantageous

  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and exercise strong technical and business judgment in mission critical IT support functions.

  • Strong diagnostic/troubleshooting skills with a keen interest in new technologies.

  • Required to be available for on-call activities on a scheduled basis and to work out of office hours in order to resolve client issues.

  • Financial services/IT Field engineer/National Infrastructure/Commodity logistics end user support experience would be advantageous

  • Exposure to managing and supporting OT infrastructure environments


  • Sound working knowledge of the following is desirable:

    o Industry standard End User imaging and packaging

    o Win 10 and Active Directory

    o Microsoft Office 2016 - 2019 required

    o VLAN, VMware, Netapp

    o Networking routers, firewalls, switches such as Cisco, Meraki, Citrix and VPN

    o Spyware/malware removal tools and techniques.

    o MS Intune applied to a mobile device a plus
