Full Job Description

Our SENDCo (Special Educational Needs and Disability Coordinator) manages the LSA team, supported by two Deputy SENDCos (and another based in our Sixth Form) and a specialist teacher. The LSAs are expected to undertake a 30-minute duty during the school lunch break. These duties include working with students and lunchtime supervision in the Learning Support Base and wider school. Our ideal candidate will have good communication skills, be able to work under their own initiative and as part of a whole school team. We offer excellent professional development opportunities in the department and are fully committed to enabling new and existing staff to explore training courses for self-progression. We would particularly welcome applicants who have experience of supporting students with hearing impairment, social emotional and mental health needs, and learning difficulties. We are also keen to receive applications from creative, dynamic graduates who are keen to develop their skills in a
school setting before pursuing a career in teaching.

St Mary Redcliffe and Temple is a successful and heavily oversubscribed 11-18 co-educational, Church of England, comprehensive school of over 1750 students, serving families from the whole of greater Bristol and beyond. We are located at the heart of the city and have a diverse student community with considerable parental support. Our diversity is a strength and something we celebrate. The Redcliffe Sixth Form Centre currently houses approximately 700 students from our own school and from many other schools across the City.

Our Christian ethos is at the centre of our distinctiveness and success. We believe that daily worship helps us get our priorities right. The School has a clearly identified set of values that are reflected in our pastoral and curriculum practice. The School is committed to developing students as whole people and lifelong learners. To facilitate this St Mary Redcliffe and Temple School has developed the Alive model, which seeks to develop competencies, values, and skills in our students to support their development as 'fully alive' learners.

Our School is committed to safeguarding and further establishing a culture of safeguarding that protects and promotes the welfare of pupils that are in our care. As such, all posts are subject to a safer recruitment process, including the disclosure of criminal records and all relevant checks. We ensure that we have a range of policies and procedures in place, which promote safeguarding and safer working practice across the school.

The post is 32 hours 30 minutes per week arranged over five days, Monday to Friday. You will be working term time only, plus 5 INSET days. The salary range is Bristol Grade 6 (BG6) £23,892 rising to £24,293 (gross per annum, pro rata). These posts are fixed term initially until 31 August 2024; however, it is highly likely that the contract can be extended. Applications for a part time post will be considered, so please make the number of days/hours you would like to work clear in your application.
