About HMP Portland

Residents can train and earn qualifications in professions such as bricklaying, painting and decorating and carpentry and joinery. Other courses offered include functional skills, PSD and music. Portland residents have the opportunity to leave the prison for short periods of time, this is known as ROTL (release on temporary licence) which can be used to gain work experience in the local community and prepare them for release.

Weston College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to obtain the appropriate prison clearance before starting the role.
