Royal Mail has a great opportunity for a Maintenance Team Leader at our Truro Mail Centre.

You will be responsible for providing first line technical leadership, guidance and support for all engineering grades within the Mail Centre. You will ensure that the customer is provided with engineering maintenance to a defined level that is delivered by a competent engineering workforce in a cost-effective manner.

You will own and co-ordinate the Mail Centre maintenance plan for automation equipment, ensuring that the asset performance and availability design criteria is achieved at all times.

You will also lead the delivery of maintenance operating procedures and co-ordinate system administration to ensure the integrity/continuity of automation assets and maintenance management systems.

About the role

You will own the day-to-day delivery of maintenance services, specifically preventative/predictive maintenance, corrective maintenance and performance improvement for automation assets observing workplan compliance to achieve equipment optimisation.

You will own the technical interface with operational shift managers and the production control team within the Mail Centre, disseminating all relevant information to engineering grades and assisting the plan writer.

You will delegate the timely implementation of approved modifications and ensure that the configuration status of hardware/software and mechanical set up is up to date and technically managed.

You will challenge unacceptable behaviour such as bullying and harassment within the engineering community.

As the Maintenance Team Leader you will own, develop and deploy the Maintenance Level Agreement, observing local influence factors and balance the business needs of customer focus, maintenance performance and cost control. You will also support the TMM, helping to gather data for engineering/automation reports, root cause analysis and local ownership of Maintenance / Performance / Events Breakdowns & Faults

You will be proactive with your involvement and attendance of Mail Centre operational meetings, understanding automated processing and how best to overlay maintenance plans and sharing outputs with engineers through WTL sessions and Coaching Briefs.

Regular auditing is necessary as are maintenance tasks that ensure the integrity and reliability of automation assets, using central information sources (e.g. ADST Intranet and Helpdesk).

You will promote and deploy a flexible approach to new equipment, systems and ways of working. This will involve integration with operations to fulfil the goals of TPM/AOA and continuous improvement forums.

You will also manage (on behalf of RME) the Mail Centre engineering risk assessment processes relating to automation equipment and ensure Engineering Safe Systems of Work are accurate and displayed for all assets. This will involve monitoring and reporting on the overall maintenance costs to the TMM through the extensive use of SDMM, including engineering tools for the job.

You will promote commitment and potential of highly skilled team members, ensuring all individuals contribute to team performance, thus resulting in increased employee motivation/job satisfaction toward Great Place To Work.

You will ensure technical resource provision to meet maintenance plan and operational processing requirements, in liaison with engineering and operational team leaders.

Finally, you will lead in organise coaching, training and other development activities for staff ensuring the continual professional and technical development of engineering grades. You will also be responsible for performing tool checks for engineering grades.,
