Full Job Description

The successful candidate will sit within Plexal's finance team and report to Group Finance Manager.

What you'll do

The role involves the day-to-day management of financial processes and tasks related to Plexal's Innovation Services practice.

  • Keeping general and subsidiary ledgers (including purchases and sales ledgers) accurate and up to date.

  • Being responsible for processing of all project related ledger entries.

  • Producing timely and accurate financial and management information including project performance and analysis.

  • Conducting variance analyses and investigate deviations from project budgets or forecasts.

  • Driving the project monthly invoicing cycle.

  • Coordinating onboarding of Innovation Services customers and suppliers.

  • Monitoring and Managing supplier purchase orders.

  • Maintaining of project cash flow forecasts and incorporating this information into overall company forecasts.

  • Ensuring compliance with Group financial control policies,

  • Working closely with Project delivery teams in order to understand, influence and drive project financial performance

  • Conducting project expense reviews in order to identify cost-reduction opportunities.

  • Championing financial awareness and diligence within project delivery team.

  • Driving continuing financial process improvement within Innovation Services project delivery team.

  • Supporting Group Financial Manager in completing the year end statutory audit.

  • Liaising with other members of the team and across the business on accounting matters.

  • Ad hoc duties may be requested by the Group Financial Manager or CFO.

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to deal with staff and managers at all levels within the business and with external stakeholders

  • Effectively operate and communicate in a multi-cultural environment

  • Be able to deliver in the face of conflicting priorities.

  • Attention to detail to avoid/remove the risk of error, wherever possible - strong focus on quality.

  • Meet commitments and deliver to agreed timescales.

  • Flexible approach with a 'can do' approach to work and willingness to assist the team where needed

  • Work independently and with limited supervision

  • Where required, provide guidance and/or recommendations on decisions with considered and informed information

  • Critically analyse information and translate into useful reports, opinions or decisions, ICAEW, ACCA or CIMA Qualified or part qualified with less than 3 papers to complete qualification.

  • Experience working in start-ups or small companies with a "hands on" culture

  • Experience in project accounting and reporting.

  • Demonstrable high level of integrity and professionalism

  • Strong IT skills (MS Word, Excel etc.)


  • Desirable:
  • Good knowledge of financial reporting systems

  • Awareness of current taxation law and financial best practice in industry

  • Experience with Dynamics Business Central

  • Experience with Power BI

  • A salary of £45,000 - £48,000 (depending on skills and experience)
