Full Job Description

As an apprentice, your day-to-day tasks will vary, as we'll expose you to all aspects of our work so you can discover what suits you. You'll learn,

  • How to produce detailed designs and drawings.

  • Use the latest computer modelling software.

  • Undertake existing and new site surveys.

  • Research and implement ground-breaking technologies.

  • Have regular meetings with project design teams, clients, and construction contractors.

  • Prepare engineering system designs via computer aided design and building information modelling systems.

  • Writing reports and specifications.

  • Monitoring progress and snagging on construction sites.


  • There will be opportunities to specialise in a particular discipline / field of study including electrical, mechanical, or public health design.

    Training

    You will develop and enhance your technical and management skills in a variety of applications and job roles, including design and project management. Additional learning support is provided in-house, and you will receive mentoring and supervision throughout your Apprenticeship.

    You will receive one day study leave during term times to attend college or university to work towards high level qualifications up to a BSc or BEng degree. The Apprenticeship will provide a route to gain Chartered Engineer / Incorporated Engineer (CEng / IEng) status.

    The typical duration for this apprenticeship is up 60 months, dependant on the previous experience of the apprentice and opportunities to gain the full range of competence.

  • Education to A Level or ongoing involvement in a Level 3 equivalent.

  • GCSE at Grade 5 / 6 or above in English, Maths, Physics, or similar numerate/science/project design subjects.

  • Enthusiasm, ambition, and creativity.

  • A team player. Our excellent teams are the basis of our great work.

  • Self-motivated and hardworking.

  • A long-term aspiration to build a career.

  • Ability to build good working relationships.

  • Good communication skills - confidence in communicating with people at all levels and the

  • IT proficient.

  • Good time management and organisation skills.

  • A keen eye for detail.

  • Ability to learn digital engineering and modelling software including IES, 2D/3D AutoCAD and REVIT software.
