Full Job Description

Reporting into the South West Service Manager the Generator Engineer will provide maintenance, installation, diagnosis, repair and testing services across a range of diesel generator sets, switchgear, control systems and associated equipment. Our support is carried out at clients premises or Pharos sites. Key tasks include:

  • Carrying diagnostic, testing and remedial works on generators, switchgear and associated equipment, and support PPM where required to include Load banking.

  • Electrical fault finding and repair

  • Generator upgrades, including but not limited to Control panels

  • Providing call-out cover for generator breakdowns on a rota system

  • Carrying out client site visits and generating accurate and timely reports

  • Projecting spares requirements for upcoming and planned works

  • Team technical development, training and mentoring

  • Supporting operational tasks i.e: reporting, quotations, progress reports, customer enquiries etc

  • Out of hours working

  • On call service

    Minimum 5 years experience in the generator industry.

  • Mechanical diagnostic experience

  • Qualified Mechanical Engineer or similar

  • Skilled in technical report writing with acute attention to detail

  • Electrical expertise desirable

  • A good network within the Generator field would be advantageous

  • Full UK driving licence

We specialise in supplying, installing, commissioning, repairing and servicing diesel backup and emergency-power systems.     PGS has been actively researching and exploring new clean fuel technologies to complement the switch to renewable sources of energy. Many organisations are relying on diesel generators for backup power. Our ambition is to explore how renewables and battery storage could be an alternative in certain situations. This transition will position PGS as an established provider of backup power supplies, thereby enabling our expansion in the UK and abroad.
