Job Description



The Mechanical Systems Engineer is responsible for mechanical design of equipment and system to meet customer requirements and will provide support from initial inquiry to project closure. This will require both hands-on and office-based activities ensuring the delivery of solutions that are safe, cost-effective and on time.

Key responsibilities are

  • Responsible for engineering work, to achieve the requirement specification, and compliance with business procedures, standards, and regulations, in terms of its quality, technical content, support planning, resourcing, and progressing with a high focus on safety throughout.

  • Review work packages, such as phase reviews, design reviews, and will determine their attendees, objectives and next steps as well as acting as the review chairperson.

  • Provide technical liaison, to the Purchaser's project management and technical team along with the Project Manager.

  • Take part in safety, FMEA and ILS reviews.

  • Liaise with suppliers for the production of quotations and support their site activities.

  • Ensure issued documents have been reviewed and are of the required quality, ensuring adherence to specifications and standards.

  • Progressing business-wide technical issues that affect the project via the appropriate routes.

  • Support planning and reviewing of work carried out by members of the engineering team.

  • Work with the work package Lead Engineers to manage the day-to-day engineering activities.

  • Writing reports, test procedures.

  • Providing technical support to Engineering colleagues.

  • Assisting in other areas of the business, as required.


  • Qualifications/Requirements

  • Degree In Electromechanical or Mechanical engineering Discipline.

  • Have suitable electro /mechanical engineering systems experience.

  • Firm grasp of mechanical engineering concepts.

  • Experience of basic structural design calculations and structural design specifications.

  • Excellent technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability.

  • Have a high focus on accuracy and quality of work with great attention to detail and excellent awareness of safety in the development of designs.

  • Ability to communicate (both written and orally) effectively and clearly with a variety of professionals in a collaborative manner.

  • Ability to write clear and comprehensive technical documentation.

  • Highly analytical mind, with exceptional problem-solving skills

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.

  • Must be self-motivated and a great team worker.

  • Experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD, or similar.

  • Must have basic Electrical knowledge.
