Full Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Orthotist who is looking for an opportunity to be develop their career and be a part of our large and dynamic team in Roehampton.

The role will involve working with a complex clinical case load, it will present exciting opportunities to develop clinical and leadership skillsets. The role will be instrumental in working with the orthotic team, consisting of clinicians, technicians and wider NHS MDT to advance and improve the delivery of the service.

There are a wide variety of MDTs and extended practice clinics including, but not limited to:

  • In and out-patient clinics for neurological conditions

  • Paediatrics

  • Scoliosis bracing

  • Diabetic foot

  • Foot and ankle

  • Theatre casts and removal, Some of the key responsibilities the role holder will have responsibility for:

  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality care for all patients and the smooth running of the service

  • Working closely with multi-disciplinary teams (MDT's) across Queen Mary's and St George's Hospitals

  • Inputting and leading on initiatives within the centre service development plan


  • This role will provide an opportunity for an ambitious clinician to step into a position that will challenge them and provide opportunities to develop clinically across a range of practice areas.

    The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic and busy team, and be supported with local, regional and national training to develop their clinical skills to support the service. We aim to deliver a first class service for users whilst applying the most advanced and exciting clinical and technical solutions available to patients.

    To be successful in this role, candidates must be fully HCPC registered and have one of the following qualifications:
  • Certified Orthotist

  • HND Orthotics

  • BSc Prosthetics & Orthotics

    Opcare have been providing the orthotic service in Roehampton since 2008 and have recently been re-awarded the contract, this role is an excellent opportunity to have a key influence within the service to advance and improve the delivery of service.

    The Orthotic Department is based in the Douglas Bader Rehabilitation Centre within Queen Mary's Hospital, where we provide inpatient, outpatient and community orthotic care for a wide variety of patients. There is a complex mix of MDTs and extended practice clinics which provides a great opportunity to be exposed to interesting and varied caseloads.

    St George's University NHS Foundation trust provide specialist services for South-West London including Spina Bifida, Ponseti and spasticity, all of which the orthotic team are an important part of.

    There is a large on-site workshop with skilled staff providing a collaborative working approach to device design and manufacture.
