Full Job Description

  • Holding a case load of up to 15 families, delivering support flexibly and tailored to the needs of the family unit including telephone, virtual and face-to-face support and home visits.

  • Facilitate a 6 week intervention of support for parents/carers using a stengths based approach.

  • Signposting to partner agencies, based on needs identified.

  • Supporting families to access other local services.

  • Recording of all case work.

  • Attending wellbeing events, such as fayres, coffee mornings and multi agency meetings., Please note the hours for this role will be required over a 5-day week, with main working hours being from 8-2.30pm. The role can adopt flexible working arrangements to meet service and personal need.

    Experience of working with families with complex needs and the ability to build and maintain rapport through effective communication and listening skills, using a whole family approach.

  • Ability to be clear and realistic about what support the service and you can offer to families.

  • Ability to maintain a visible presence and sustain relationships with services across Surrey.

  • Competent IT skills to record and maintain accurate data.

  • An understanding of the factors that may contribute to poor mental health/emotional wellbeing in young people.

  • Knowledge of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.


  • The Parent Wellbeing Service uses the Ithrive approach to their support, enabling families to thrive. The aim of the service is to work with parents/carers offering support through different strategies and tools to reach their goals.

    We have an exciting opportunity here at Barnardo's for an experienced and enthusiatsic Parent Wellbeing Practitioner to join the Parent Wellbeing Service.

    This role is part time , 32.5 hours per week and will be based at the Leatherhead Wellbeing Hub, Dorset House, Leatherhead, KT22 7PL.

    Successful candidates will work within the Surrey Wellbeing Partnership to deliver a six week intervention to parents/carers whose young people are experiencing emotional wellbeing and mental health difficulties., We know that our colleagues go above and beyond in delivering our vital work, driven by their passion and commitment to Barnardo's values.     The starting salary for this role is £23,400.00 (Full Time Equivalent), other salaries are shown so that applicants are aware of the progression salaries., Workplace Offer: What it means for you
