Full Job Description

Our Patient Care Assistants work collaboratively with the Clinical Nursing Manager, Lead Nursing Team & Registered Veterinary Nurses across our three practices to ensure the efficient delivery of outstanding patient care through all services.

Your role and responsibilities

  • Your work will involve all areas of primary care veterinary practice, including kennel rooms, theatre/sterilisation, laboratory, pharmacy and client care.

  • Provide inpatient care under the direction of the veterinary surgeons and nursing team, such as exercising, feeding and grooming hospitalised patients.

  • Maintain patient accommodation, considering the condition and welfare of the patient, providing environmental enrichment and supportive aids as required.

  • Clean, pack and sterilise surgical instruments and sterile supplies.

  • Theatre maintenance including preparation and cleaning between surgeries.

  • Assist with laboratory diagnostic techniques including use of in-house lab equipment to process samples and packaging for external laboratories.

  • Assist with stock management, such as unpacking orders, stock rotation, quarterly stock takes.

  • Assist the client care team to include greeting clients, answering the telephone, taking payments and scheduling appointments.

  • Under the direction of the veterinary surgeons and nursing team, contact and liaise with clients to provide/ receive patient updates.

    Previous experience in a Veterinary Patient care role or completion of an animal care course

  • Flexibility to work across our three practices on a rota basis.

    Hours: 40 Hours Per week, 10-hour shifts.
    Shifts: Rolling 4-week rota of 4 working days per week.
    8:00-19:00 weekdays and 8:00-18:00 on Saturdays. 1 Saturday shift per 4-week rota and will be given a weekday off in lieu for a Saturday worked.
