Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Clerk / Bookkeeper to join our friendly Stockport office. This role offers comprehensive training and presents an excellent opportunity to advance within a progressive accountancy firm. We are also open to both full-time or part-time arrangements for the right candidate., Duties will include:

Preparation of weekly and monthly payroll information including:

  • Preparation and processing of overtime and variable hours

  • Processing statutory payments

  • Processing pension payments and auto-enrolment.


  • Maintaining customer records on a monthly and quarterly basis including:
  • Bank reconciliations

  • Maintaining customer and supplier ledgers

  • Use of accounting software systems; Sage, Xero, Quickbooks

  • Preparation and reconciliation of VAT returns.

    The successful candidate will have the following skills and qualities:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to explain matters to clients

  • Relevant payroll and bookkeeping knowledge

  • Ideal but not essential: accounts preparation experience.
