Full Job Description

The Peer Support Service Manager is responsible for overseeing the service and working towards the service outcomes and KPIs, leading the development and delivery of the peer support sessions with service users, and developing a strong, positive relationship with all partners.

You will support the wider Peer Support Service staff to deliver the services, develop different peer support models, identify and access relevant training and support and ensure that all reporting, monitoring and evaluation is collected and collated.

This role will ensure that Wandsworth Peer Support Service staff conduct client triage and needs assessments, deliver peer support sessions and are supported to manage safeguarding and risk.

You will be experienced in leading a small team and working with a wide range of partners. You'll be a confident communicator and able to manage varied workstreams. You will have lived experience of mental health issues and be passionate about mental health, having a good understanding of some of the challenges experienced by people with mental health issues.

Aims of the role:

  • Ensure the Peer Support Service is managed and delivered in line with contractual arrangements, including line management of staff.

  • Develop and deliver Peer Support services to people with severe or enduring mental health conditions, drawing on your own lived experience of mental health issues.

  • Oversee triage and support staff with safeguarding and risk.

  • Building positive and strong relationships with partners across the borough of Wandsworth.

  • Monitor the service and ensure regular reporting and evaluation takes place.

    A management qualification, or equivalent standard

  • Mental health qualification

  • Experience of supporting people living with a mental health condition (either professionally or personally)

  • Experience of working within multi-disciplinary teams providing support to people with mental health conditions

  • Lived experience of mental health issues

  • Experience of leading and/ or delivering peer support activities

  • Experience of partnership work with statutory and/ or voluntary sector partners

  • Knowledge/ awareness of local voluntary sector, particularly in relation to mental health services

  • Ability to prioritise effectively and multi-task

  • Good understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, GPDR and Health and Safety

  • Good understanding of the Care Act, the Equality Act and Mental Capacity Act

  • Good understanding of monitoring and evaluation, and ability to work within reporting frameworks

  • Good understanding of monitoring and evaluation, and ability to work within reporting frameworks

  • Knowledge of how social care systems and NHS work

  • IT proficient particularly within Microsoft Office environment


  • This role requires a full DBS on the update service.
