The role sits within the Pensions and Stress Testing team within the wider Market and Structural Risk department. You will be responsible for the risk monitoring, analysis and control of Pension risk, which comes from the Defined Benefit pension scheme and is one of Santander UK's most significant risks.

The difference you'll make:

  • Monitoring and measuring the Pension risk exposures and profiles ensuring high quality and adequate risk MI is presented to senior management/committees in a timely manner

  • Maintaining an appropriate MI and Risk reporting system, and monitoring the risk appetite and lower-level triggers and thresholds

  • Defining comprehensive and appropriate controls, including the maintenance of required supporting documentation

  • Supporting team management in the coordination of delivering ICAAPs and PRA Stress Tests and contributing to the relevant analysis for Pensions risks

  • Assisting the senior manager in various other projects including annual risk appetite review, annual assumption reviews and risk policies reviews


  • What you'll bring:
  • Knowledge of markets and financial instruments (derivatives and fixed income including valuation measures, hedging), market risk methodologies for measuring, monitoring and stress testing of particular asset classes and products (like VaR)

  • Advanced excel skills with experience of developing and maintaining processes

    A degree in quantitative subject (mathematics, physics, statistics / equivalent) and likely to have or to be studying towards post graduate qualification

  • Previous experience of Pension risk or an actuarial background

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with good attention to detail and ability to organise your own time and work
