Full Job Description

As the Plant Manager in Knapton you will lead by example and effectively inspire, shape and develop a highly performing site operations team. You Strive a CI culture to achieve the full potential from people, plant and process, consistently achieving and improving on targeted KPIs (SHE, Compliance, Food Safety & Quality, Productivity, Efficiency & Asset Care).

The role includes but is not limited to:

Leadership

Lead, coach and inspire the site team in line with the business values to ensure the full potential from people is optimised.
Develop the appropriate tools and frameworks such as training and succession plans to shape and implement strategic 5-year resource plans.
Effective communication and engagement with other functions and stakeholders to support processes such as S&OP.

Health & Safety

To promote a successful health and safety culture that focuses on all employees, contractors and visitors adopting safe working practices to ensure a safe working environment.

Compliance

To lead audits and ensure that the site is compliant with standards required by external authorities and our chosen accreditations/standards (ISO, FSSC etc).
Develop audit-ready culture on site at all times.

Food Safety

Ensure that the site has systems in place to manage and control risks to food safety.
Promote and maintain awareness of and adherence to these systems, ensuring that within the site team appropriate responsibility and accountability is in place. This includes strict management of plant hygiene practices.

KPI Delivery & CI

To engage with and empower the production manager and wider operations team to optimise the plant and process to achieve target KPIs on a batch-by-batch basis.
Support critical thinking & problem solving to successfully manage complexity, ensuring the process is reliable and repeatable to produce consistent quality to the desired specification first time right.
Engage with the local team, regional team and group operations team to champion continuous improvement through the implementation of Boortmalt Operational Excellence (BOPEX).
Support appropriate frameworks and meeting structures to drive a collaborative, agile and fact-based decision making processes, instilling a a bottom up CI culture across the site, exploring innovative solutions and the use of new technologies to drive energy and sustainability roadmaps.

Customer focus

Working closely with the quality and commercial team to understand, support and develop relationships with customers and other stakeholders, striving to produce the highest quality products and deliver customer centric solutions.

Asset Care

To work closely with regional asset care and operations teams to drive a successful asset care strategy in line with group standards and KPI targets.
Ensure planned preventive maintenance delivers the plant reliability metrics with and strict management of R&M budgets and a clear accountability for site CAPEX budgets and execution.

Budget Management

Manage the site budgeting and forecasting processes, always ensuring accurate and effective cost management to drive site operations financial performance.

Master or Graduate calibre or equivalent knowledge.
Fully familiar with Continuous Improvement principles, Energy Management, Process visualisation, Budget and Team Management, Total Safety.
Experience in leading operations within manufacturing, engineering, chemical engineering, brewing or malting technologies.
Spoken and written English is required
Conversant with Microsoft Office tools and experience in the use with IT manufacturing systems - eg ERP, LIMS systems, etc.
