Full Job Description
- Be accountable for ensuring that Sky.com, MySky App, and Sky Assistant deliver a stable, resilient, and performant experience for our customers.
- Work with our Architects and Engineers to identify business and technical capabilities, craft software solutions, and empower delivery.
- Take ownership of the long-term architectural and engineering roadmap for the department.
- Promote sound engineering principles, uphold high standards and provide mentoring and education across Digital Technology.
- Devise measures for application performance and build systems to apply them to ensure a high level of observability across the estate. Consult with individual teams to help them achieve their performance goals.
- Maintain an active role as a code contributor, inspiring the standards you want to see in others and helping squads replicate your results.
- Understand how to improve non-functional outcomes like search engine optimisation, performance, analytics and customer insight.
Prior experience building performant, scalable, resilient, and secure real-world software solutions at scale. - Experience leading teams of developers and a thorough understanding of what is required operate as part of a senior engineering leadership team.to
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to developers of all levels, non-technical stakeholders, and senior executives.
- The ability to manage cross-functional responsibilities, pivot to effectively apply your expertise to novel contexts, and collaborate with distributed teams.
- Good understanding of: Agile Frameworks; foundational architectural and engineering concepts; API design; Site Reliability Engineering disciplines; and Cloud Native best practices.
- Familiarity with GraphQL desirable but not essential.
