Full Job Description

As a Principal Oracle Developer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary where you will have the opportunity to work on leading edge software technologies in a varied and challenging environment.

Day-to-day, you'll undertake the requirement analysis, production and review of technical design solutions of large/complex programmes. You'll translate requirements, use cases, storyboards into functional applications using agreed standards and tools and testing of new IT applications.

  • Software development is undertaken in accordance with IT quality plan and procedures.

  • Code reuse and efficiency are taken into account in the design.

  • Efficient software development through the use of good design and implementation methodologies.

  • Provide out of hours support for software releases and patches, when required.

  • Maintain technical awareness at a level where alternatives can be analysed and modelled according to technical feasibility.


  • This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.

  • Substantial period of proven development experience with demonstrable knowledge of the whole development lifecycle.

  • Comfortable with waterfall and agile approaches to software delivery.

  • Experience of development and deployment using ORACLE Fusion Middleware.

  • Extensive knowledge of the ORACLE Web based application development toolset (Forms, Reports).

  • Development of complex server side PL/SQL code for data input validation and data import / export.

  • Advanced JavaScript knowledge and experience.


  • Qualifications for the Principal Oracle Developer:
  • Education to A-Level standard.

  • Degree preferred.

  • Professional training qualifications desirable.
