Full Job Description

  • Manage all resources (people, equipment and materials) required for the production process, and ensure that it is run to maximum efficiency across the shifts

  • Establish targets for production, and work with the planning manager and your direct shift leads to deliver a robust plan to meet these targets. Ensure production stays on schedule, with fiber meeting quality, cost and delivery standards

  • Analyze and report production data to senior management, and optimize for efficiency, collaborating with Process Engineering to improve the efficiency of the layout of equipment and flow of materials using Lean Manufacturing techniques as appropriate

  • Ensure production technicians and equipment meet performance and safety requirements

  • Recruit new team members and manage the training and performance and development of team members whilst upholding the Microsoft values of Model, Coach and Care

  • Collaborate with other business functions to ensure that all issues which prevent successful delivery of the plan are swiftly dealt with

    Bachelor's Degree in manufacturing / material / mechanical / electrical / industrial engineering, or related field AND relevant experience in a manufacturing environment

  • + OR Master's Degree in manufacturing, material, mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineering, or related field AND relevant experience in a manufacturing environment /repair
    + OR significant equivalent experience in a related manufacturing environment
  • Relevant people management experience

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter., Bachelor's Degree in manufacturing, material, mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineering, or related field AND significant experience in a manufacturing environment

  • + OR Master's Degree in manufacturing, material, mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineering, or related field AND relevant experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment
    + OR Doctorate in manufacturing, material, mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineering, or related field AND relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
    + OR significant equivalent experience
  • Significant people management experience

  • The Azure Fiber team in Romsey is seeking dynamic candidates with energy and a passion for innovation to join our team. In this role, you will lead and manage a team of over 30 manufacturing staff, to meet or exceed production targets as we ramp up our state of the art Romsey facility. You will lead the management of the entire process and production line capability to support end-to-end fabrication and test of our world-beating hollow core optical fibre. This is a key role which offers significant growth as we further expand our capabilities.
