Role and responsibilities

The role offers the opportunity to play a leading part in developing the business under an
ambitious medium-term plan in collaboration with the existing Harrogate and London-based
teams, which currently consist of nine investment managers and administrative support.

The role will involve:

  • Identifying and developing new client relationships;

  • Identifying and developing new professional relationships;

  • Management of a growing portfolio of existing client relationships;

  • Contributing to business development activities and client relationships across Yorkshire, the

  • North of England and London;
  • Contributing to the development of the firm's business development strategy;

  • Contributing to investment policy decisions at Investment Policy Committee meetings, and

  • working alongside the firm's analysts and other investment managers to identify, evaluate and
    monitor a concentrated preferred list of global equities;
  • Assisting with a variety of company projects and initiatives.


  • The role presents an exciting opportunity to assume wide ranging investment management and
    client relationship responsibilities delivering an ambitious growth plan as an integral member of a
    small but dynamic and well-respected firm.

    The role is full-time and will be based at our Harrogate office, working closely with the existing
    Investment Director based there. The option to work from home when appropriate will be
    considered but the individual is expected to be predominantly office based. The role will involve
    regular travel around the North of England and to the Haddington and London offices for
    meetings with colleagues, clients, investee companies, and for business development activities.

    The utmost integrity and a true commitment to the highest standards of client service are essential.

    Effective communication, strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to work independently and
    collaboratively as part of a team will be important competencies. Initiative, energy, and
    resourcefulness are characteristics all employees are expected to demonstrate.

    Candidates will have a minimum of 8-years of financial services experience. The successful
    candidate will be expected to hold or obtain the Private Client Investment Advice & Management
    (PCIAM) or equivalent Ofqual Level 6 (or higher) qualification (e.g., CFA). Training support
    will be provided if necessary. An understanding of financial analysis and global markets, and an
    appreciation of global politics and macroeconomics, is required.

    The successful candidate is expected to have a wide and deep network of contacts across the North
    of England.

    Remuneration and other benefits will be competitive and subject to experience.

    Holidays: 25 days per year; increases to 30 days depending upon time spent with
    company. Additional holiday in the year following milestone anniversaries
    (10 years and every 5 years thereafter).
