Full Job Description

Due to continuous growth, we have a rare and exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our award winning Civil Engineering team based in the North of England with our Head Office located in Preston. We work on projects ranging from £100k to £10m across all sectors of the industry. Our projects have gone on to win awards such as Pooley Bridge and Sugden End Landfill.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead the site team and sub-contractors to maintain the highest possible standard of safety and performance at all times and ensure safety is the number one priority of all members of the team.

  • Ensure management and monitoring procedures are undertaken to cover all aspects of design, procurement, and works on site.

  • Take part in internal and external meetings including but not limited to - site progress, safety, team, design and sub-contract meetings.

  • Support and work closely with the commercial team with selection and procurement of sub-contract packages

  • Work with the commercial to ensure the contract is administered correctly (predominantly NEC)

  • Work with our planner to ensure programmes are updated in accordance with contractual requirements

  • Ensure third parties are identified and managed appropriately.

  • Input into all necessary reports for internal and external functions

  • Review risks and opportunities on projects and implement change where required


  • About you

    Aligned to our ethos and values and reporting into the Operations Director, you will oversee and hold lead responsibility for project(s). Ensure all project deliverables are achieved with regard to safety, quality, programme and cost. Monitor, manage and support site personnel. Liaise with Clients and key members of the supply chain.

  • CSCS Site Managers card as a minimum.

  • SMSTS qualification.

  • Appropriate industry qualifications e.g. BSc, HNC or similar.

  • Detailed technical knowledge of construction operations with tier 1 and/or tier 2 industry experience.

  • Industry experience in a similar role.

  • First Aid at Work.

  • Appropriate IT skills

  • Excellent communication skills and someone who uses communication in a pro-active and strategic way.

  • Commercially astute - applies cost-benefit analysis to all activities, forecasting cost to complete, working on Compensation Events and claims.

  • Increases profitability through the innovative handling of complex business and technical problems and implements solutions individually and through others.
