Full Job Description

Leadership of the delivery of all CWP design (from requirements definition to acceptance), including management of the Engineering & Technical budget and associated resources and supply chain to deliver the design to the CWP Delivery teams.
- Integration of constructability requirements and design integration within the Civil Works Programme and with Site Establishment and Offsite InfrastructureThe Engineering & Technical Project Manager will be part of the Engineering & Technical function within the Sizewell C Civil Works Programme. They will be responsible for managing the costs and schedule within their scope area, with focus on the following: Engineering & Technical budget; L3 Design Supply Chain Contracts; Co-ordinating with SZC Commercial & Procurement Teams on current and future contracts and Schedule. The Engineering & Technical Project Manager will collaborate with the be supported by the Engineering Manager and Design Manager with their provision of the technical requirements and technical solutions for the scope area. Principal Accountabilities
- Responsible for the management of the Engineering and Technical budget in their specific scope area and manage budgets within delegated authorities.
- Responsible for the schedule of the Engineering & Technical scope in their specific scope area, supported by the Engineering & Technical schedulers. Ensuring that the Design Schedule is updated to support planning of the L3 Design Supply Chain Deliverables and ultimately ensure that Execution Design Ready (EDR) is available to support timely construction and meet the Construction Need Dates.
- Responsible for managing changes to cost and schedule through the SZC Change Management process, including WACC and ROTC for their specific scope area.
- Responsible for the management of [L3] Design Supply Chain Contracts following Signature of Contract including the use of CEMAR for managing the [L3] Design Supply Chain claims and variations.
- Responsible for engaging with the [L3] Design Supply Chain with SZC Procurement to outline and prepare the Design procurement process.
- Co-ordinate with Civil Works Alliance and the other programmes (NI, CIBOP, SEOI) on the Design Delivery schedule and associated milestone logic.
- Provide technical assistance to the SZC procurement teams and SZC commercial teams in setting-out the scope of design to be delivered and support the Tender process so that the procurement of the Design contracts, Task Orders are delivered in a timely manner against the agreed schedule in accordance with SZC Governance Procedures.
- Lead on engagement with the CWP Delivery Senior Project Manager managing the RD for the Engineering & Technical function (in their scope area) to ensure that the RD services are well coordinated with the L3 Designer services with regard to schedule. (Technical co-ordination is through the Design Manager).
- Manage Engineering & Technical Risks in accordance with SZC Risk Management Process for their scope area working in collaboration with the Design Manager.
- Responsible for reporting on delivery in accordance with SZC Project Reporting requirements and cadence.
- Coordinate with CWP Delivery Senior Project Manager for the Engineering & Technical function (in their scope area) to align Design priorities with Delivery needs.
- The Engineering & Technical Project Manager will work in close relationship with their Design Manager counterpart to ensure that no gaps/overlaps exist between the two roles for a smooth and timely delivery of the design.
- Responsible for managing the team of Project Engineers allocated to their scope area in delivery of their responsible project outcomes. Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience
Essential

Ability to manage and work to budget and programme, to control costs and manage change control processes.
- Established and practical skill and experience across concept design, detailed design and construction stages, including management of design phases, in:o heavy civil engineering structures, including reinforced concrete and structural steel, and familiarity with current design standards and working practices (British Standards); and/oro external works, including drainage, utilities, paved and unpaved surfaces, earthworks, access and accessibility, construction logistics and familiarity with current UK design standards and working practices; and/oro managing complex multi-disciplinary designs and teams, including integration, design and delivery management.
- Experience in, and a desire to provide, technical leadership and collaboration within a technically orientated delivery team
- Experience of working with, and managing, focused technical teams including management of suppliers
- Experience of working on multi-discipline projects
- Proven experience effectively managing stakeholders, both internal and external, both technically and commercially
- Ability to communicate and engage effectively at a range of levels: Management Team, SZC stakeholders, design delivery teams, third party authorisers etcDesirable
- Experience in the nuclear sector, particularly in the design and implementation of safety-related structures, systems and components Qualifications & ExperienceEssential
- Honours Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent
- Chartered Engineer (MICE or MIStructE) or working towards chartershipDesirable
- Experience in the Project Management of large and complex projects such as nuclear projects (e.g. Hinkley Point C)
