Full Job Description

Education and Services for People with Autism are seeking an experienced Property Maintenance Assistant to work within our Residential and College sites, carrying out all areas of remedial maintenance. Tools and equipment will be provided. This is a full time and permanent position, covering Sunderland, Seaham, Houghton le Spring, Newcastle and North Tyneside.,

  • Carrying out all aspects of general maintenance tasks which can include joinery, plumbing, small electrical works, painting and decorating within our Residential and College sites.

  • Ideally from a joinery/handyman background.

  • Service user facing role, therefore must have excellent communication skills.

  • Reporting back any issues to the Maintenance Manager.

  • Working as part of a team, providing on-call service

  • Deliver planned and reactive maintenance

  • Understanding of central heating systems, laundry equipment and hot and cold water systems

  • Identify and order specific equipment, tools and materials for necessary maintenance

  • Identify and report work that could require intervention from external contactors.

  • Undertake maintenance and repair work, complying with relevant Health and Safety guidelines requirements.

  • Action and complete day-to-day maintenance duties and keep accurate records of tasks undertaken.

  • Liaise with line manager and the registered manager to raise any issues that cannot be solved on your own initiative.

  • Undertake training and development as required

  • Carry out any other duties to the post as requested and within the roles remit.

  • Previous experience of working in a maintenance role or very good handyman skills

  • Good knowledge of relevant Health and Safety regulations

  • Possess and maintain a valid UK driving Licence

You will be able to demonstrate compassion and empathy in your approach to our people and be a team player, but able to work on your own initiative. You will be dependable and flexible to meet the needs of our service users.

    Salary £27,500p.a.

  • Monday to Friday (37.5 hours)

  • 6 weeks Annual leave including bank holidays

  • Company pension scheme / Death in service benefit
