Full Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Purchasing Supervisor to join our team.

The successful candidate will work closely with sales and production departments, responsible for planning input of over 12 million plants to match sales and forecast requirements of over 1,200 customers. Allowing for the efficient production of plants on the nursery, taking into consideration availability of source material and economic delivery patterns.

The successful candidate will be responsible for placing and updating provisional orders with both internal and external suppliers, alongside reporting performance and following claims procedures.

The ideal candidate will be prepared to handle the "seasonal" demand with peak periods during the year whilst working autonomously and as part of a team.

Key tasks:

· Working closely with sales and production teams and information provided.

·Using company database information systems to assess and confirm purchasing requirements.

· Dealing with 40+ internal and external supply streams from around the world.

· Negotiating prices of input materials

· Based on information provided, helping to set up required stock bases at specific locations

· Co-ordinating and communicating with suppliers regarding requirements and delivery logistics.

· Producing feedback for suppliers and negotiating credits where appropriate.

· High level of skill using Microsoft Office 365 - specifically Excel and Outlook

(At least 3 years' experience working with excel sheets)

· Experience with working with excel formulae such as "lookup", "match" and "index".

· Proficient typing skills essential.

    Hours of work
  • Full time hours- Monday-Friday 39.25 hours a week, 4pm finish Fridays

  • Additional overtime may also be required during busy periods.

  • 28 days annual leave (pro rata) including bank holidays.
