Qualified Accountant (Public Sector)

Neway is looking for a Qualified Accountant to join our client based with North Yorkshire Council.

This role is starting at the beginning of May, working 37 hours a week

Providing financial support both to service directorates within NYC and to the new Mayoral Combined Authority.

Work will include introducing, developing and documenting financial processes and procedures in relation to debtors, creditors, balance sheet and bank reconciliations and year-end closedown.

Working closely with service managers, provide regular financial monitoring, undertake budget and financial planning work and support the managers in grant claim submissions.

Hybrid working - mainly from home but may be required to attend Northallerton / Harrogate offices

Qualified Accountant (CIPFA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)
Public sector experience preferable
Experience of using Xero - Essential
Working with minimum supervision and often taking the initiative, the role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a strong financial background
