About the Opportunity

Assurance, Technology & Regulation (AT&R) team has a primary focus on three key areas; Independent Oversight & Assurance, Technology Development, and Regulatory Support. We have been directly involved in the Royal Navy's Nuclear Submarine Program for six decades and support the UK Civil Nuclear & Decommissioning industry. Come and join AT&R's Business Operations Team and take on a key role in leading, managing and advising on, the activities required to meet the quality standards set for AT&R products, projects or services.

You will take ownership of a variety of effective quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) activities and measures for project delivery, client or business group management. You will lead on client or business group specific QA/QC plans and define method and implementation plans, including assurance/control measures, customer feedback mechanisms, corrective, analysis, and continuous improvement. This role is responsible for quality assurance activities such as audit, inspection, and performance excellence.

This role is to lead and manage a team, area or department so that people and delivery performance is maximized. You will manage and lead on setting the strategic operational direction within your own area of responsibility, where you will manage stakeholders and teams to deliver capability in support of the business requirement.

What you will doing:

  • Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends best practices

  • Leads on quality management controls and practices (internal and external) to the company. This includes; coordination and execution of audits as well as participation in Lloyds Register Certification activities

  • Creates and continually reviews the company's quality procedures, standards and specifications to ensure they are fit for purpose. Seeks out industry best practice with a focus on continuous improvement across AT&R

  • Lead on quality management aspects of AT&R supply chain engagement while establishing and maintaining quality assurance and controls procedures and registers for AT&R

  • Measure, track and report project quality performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques

  • Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions; identifies applications of functional knowledge and existing methodologies to complex problems

  • Leads functional teams or projects and serves as a best practice/quality resource, this includes direct line management

  • Create and manage the quality induction programme for AT&R

  • Supervise and oversee the activities of other staff outside of AT&R / the Business Operations team who provide quality services to AT&R projects

  • Masters Degree (Level 7 or equivalent) in relevant subject

  • Membership of a professional institution is desirable (CQI)

  • Internal and external auditing skills

  • Knowledge of legal, regulatory requirements and voluntary standards

  • Developing and delivering strategies, policies and plans

  • Managing change

  • Acting as a quality role model
