Full Job Description

Our reputation for leading in the field of digital systems: sensor data and signal processing for position, navigation and timing, and machine learning, has been established through active research in this field. The research group you would be joining is focused on the research of AI-enhanced emerging satellite-based navigation technologies supporting wider adoption and improved safety of operation of autonomous systems, such as enhanced situational awareness, robust and resilient position, navigation, and timing. The application of these technologies spans both present day applications and future demands of autonomous systems, for example, in Urban Air Mobility. Research work covers both funded research (from research councils and directly from clients) and academic provision (MSc and PhD)., You will be expected to collaborate with the existing staff working in the same group and centre and have communications and meetings with our collaborators within the university, the industrial and defence partners, or in other universities. In return, the successful applicant will have exciting opportunities for career development in this key position, and to be at the forefront of world-leading research and education, joining a supportive team and environment.

You will be educated to the doctoral level or equivalent in a relevant subject. Your skills and knowledge will mean that you can contribute to research and some teaching activities such as (1) research in emerging technologies enabling robust and resilient positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) solutions for applications in autonomy, transport and other domains, (2) teaching in machine learning, sensor technologies and PNT technologies for our MSc courses, (3) engage with academic, business and defence stakeholders to develop and deliver research projects, and (4) assist in activities in the group with other academics, researchers and students.
