Full Job Description

Lancaster City Council is looking to recruit highly motivated Resident Support Officers to join the team supporting the most in need in our district.

This team will work with and be managed by the Customer Services Team.

Your duties will include administering the Household Support Fund as well as signposting people to other support within the district. The Household Support Fund is funded by the UK Government to support those in our district who are struggling to afford the essentials.

The role will involve you providing updates on people's applications in person and over the phone as well as supporting people to provide the correct documentation before the case is sent for assessment. Once a full financial assessment has been carried out by North Lancashire Citizens Advice, you will be responsible for processing the awards.

You may also be out and about in the district providing help, advice and support as well as signposting to third party organisations where appropriate., A full current UK driving licence is desirable but not essential. As a result, you may be required to sign up to the authorised external DVLA driving licence validation organisation that we use to manage and monitor our employees driving licence data. This post is temporary until 30th September 2024; therefore, we are ideally looking for people who can start immediately. The hours of work for these positions are either 20 or 37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday. Please indicate on your application form which role you are interested in (20 hours per week, 37 hours per week or either). There may be the occasional evening or weekend work required.

These roles are based at Morecambe Town Hall. Once fully trained, there will be the opportunity for hybrid working.
