Full Job Description

  • Lead, develop and train the members of your team to achieve success and enable all employees to deliver excellent Customer Service

  • Continuously strive to achieve and exceed all targets for sales, budget and profit and that all costs and wastage are managed and controlled

  • Follow all processes and procedures within Operational Excellence to ensure stock, cash and back-office systems are managed correctly and risks of loss are minimised

  • Ensure Health and Safety (H&S) regulations and procedures are followed by all team members and that the relevant H&S documentation is completed within established timescales

  • Encourage a culture of learning and development so all staff can fulfil their potential and NAAFI has a strong succession plan


  • · You will be comfortable spending much of your time away from home and working and living in confined spaces, whilst remaining professional and always promoting the NAAFI brand

    · You will spend much of your time on deployments throughout the world and whist not at sea you will either work on-board a ship whilst it is docked or gain experience working in another of our outlets throughout the world

    · When not deployed or working on-board a ship you will work in one of outlets in Germany, or elsewhere in the NAAFI world

    · Demonstratable experience of working as a grocery retail manager

    · You will possess excellent customer service skills

    · Ability to show resilience under pressure

    · You will be self-reliant and able to and use your own drive and initiative to resolve problems

    · Must pass an ENG 1 Medical, a Sea Survival course and the relevant security clearance

    · The successful applicant must be prepared to spend a significant amount of time away from home

    · This is not a usual 9 - 5 job, it is hard work and long hours, particularly when storing ship. However, you will get to stop off on occasion and take some time back doing all kinds of leisure activities at some fabulous exotic locations during deployments

  • NAAFI have an exciting opportunity for an experienced grocery retail manager to work as a manager on board Royal Navy ships in the Navy Canteen Service. This opportunity will not only help you to enhance your knowledge and skills but allow you to test your abilities of working in a very unique environment.

    As the job is spending a lot of time away from home (up to 10 months per year), applicants must consider if this fits in with their personal circumstances prior to applying.
