  • About the store

Specsavers in Bideford first opened its doors in 2005 and is situated in a prominent position on the main high street. Bideford is a beautiful market and port town located on the banks of the river Torridge in North Devon. There's a vibrant art and culture scene in the town with art galleries, museums and craft markets as well as plenty of restaurants, cafes and over 80 independent shops.

Some of the best beaches in North Devon are within easy reach including those at Croyde Bay, Putsborough and Westward Ho which is less than 4 miles from Bideford. There are regular trips from Bideford across the Lundy Island, the home of Devon's puffin population as well as a host of other rare and protected species of bird. The charming harbour area is home to several organisations offering pleasure cruises around the harbour and you're also close to the picturesque towns and villages such as Appledore, Instow and Clovelly, which are all charming and full of interesting heritage attractions.

The city of Bristol and Bath are roughly two hours' drive, with a trainline located in Tiverton that will take you to London in two hours as well.
