Full Job Description

The Home Library is a multi-channel retailer of inspirational and beautiful decorative lighting, sofas, chairs, curtains, wallcoverings, and accessories for the home, based in Weybridge, Surrey KT13 8BA. We are looking for committed team member to join our team on a permanent basis.

Working within a small and friendly retail team, teamwork, and the ability to build relationships are key to this role. We are looking for a person who will proactively and confidently approach every customer and deliver outstanding customer experience. We are looking for someone who can work 22.5 hours per week, spread over 3 days between Monday to Sunday. Flexibility and reasonable overtime may from time to time be required to cover staff shortages, holidays, and busy periods. You will be required to work weekends and Bank Holidays on rotation.

Key responsibilities

· Work face to face with customers to help with enquires and sales, with a genuine desire to offer first class customer service

· Provide accurate and appropriate advice, guidance, and technical details on product selection to ensure that our customers buy the best and relevant products to meet their needs

· Responsibility for processing cash and card payments and refunds in line with company procedures

· Provide excellent after sales service by following up on orders, ensuring orders are fulfilled as expected, delivery targets met, and customers informed of any delays in advance

· Fully participate in all aspects of the store operation from front end counter sales to warehousing, stock management, compliance, and cleaning

· Management of goods in and external deliveries

· Unpacking, locating and booking on stock, labelling, and the management of any returns

· Manage stock control and ensure accuracy of the stock data on day-to-day basis

· Waste management - separation of cardboard and plastics for recycling and processing

· In-store visual merchandising, assembling and installing display products (after completion of the technical competency course) and general maintenance of showroom

· Light and appropriate DIY duties around the store including painting/decorating, installing mirrors and wall art

· Ensure all displays are kept in a clean and attractive condition and products are labelled and priced correctly

Please note role involves manual handling (lifting, moving and carrying boxed stock and furniture) and the use of ladders, on a regular basis.

· Previous experience in a customer facing sales role

· Excellent English, both spoken and written

· Strong interpersonal skills with excellent communication and listening skills

· Genuine desire to deliver first-class customer service

· Ability to learn and discuss our product range with a customer

· IT literate and proficient in Microsoft Office applications, such as Word and Excel

· Forward thinking and proactive attitude

  • GCSE or equivalent (preferred)

  • Retail sales: 3 years (required)

  • customer service: 3 years (required)
