Full Job Description

  • Perform visual inspections of underground areas, which include over-inspections, statutory inspections, ground control audits and geotechnical mapping.

  • Install, use, measure and maintain ground control monitoring equipment.

  • Prepare written or other documentation associated with their duties, making use of standard office and specialist IT applications / computers.

  • Provide ground control training, development and mentoring, which includes day-to-day geotechnical guidance and assistance to production / infrastructure departments.

    The Rock Engineering Department actively seeks an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with an outgoing personality to fill the position of Rock Engineering Overseer. In this essential role, the primary responsibilities include administering and executing the operational functions required by the mine's Scheme for Assessing the Adequacy of Ground Control Measures., Have a broad understanding of the Mines Regulations 2014, with particular reference to the requirements of Regulation 14 and 32.

  • Ideally have some experience in the implementation of ground control measures (e.g. roof-bolting, support setting).

  • Demonstrate the ability to comprehend technical plans and schematics, which encompass geological, geotechnical, and mining information.

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, essential for effective collaboration and reporting.

  • Possess IT proficiency and demonstrate adeptness in using MS Excel, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, Word, and CAD.

  • Demonstrate a proactive mindset for career progression and skill development, with an interest in being enrolled on the mining industry apprenticeship degree (B.Eng) program.
