The Seagrass Project Officer is responsible for the delivery of the Trust's Seeding Change Together Seagrass project funded by Seasalt. There is one year left of this current 3 year project which we have ambition to continue (TBC) for further years. The aim is to continue to develop a low-cost solution for restoring intertidal seagrass in the Fal estuary, and to expand the restoration to the Helford estuary with first stages of planting scheduled for autumn 2024., At Cornwall Wildlife Trust, we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive workplace that values diversity and champions the unique talents of every individual. Are you an experienced marine biologist or plant scientist looking for an exciting new challenge that will help store carbon and revitalise our estuaries? Cornwall Wildlife Trust are recruiting a Seagrass project officer to deliver a programme of experimental trails to investigate the practicality of restoring intertidal seagrass beds in Cornwall. This project funded by Seasalt will involve detailed hands-on research and restoration trials being carried out on a CWT reserve and expansion of the work to intertidal sites in other areas within Cornwall's estuaries where we have evidence that intertidal seagrass beds have been lost in the past. This post involves demanding physical work, and the ability to work independently. The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate skills in scientific survey and analysis as well as volunteer management, reporting and communication of project outcomes, and confidence and experience of public speaking.
