Full Job Description

You will add value and provide key financial information and analysis to drive performance and enable timely decision making.

You will play a key role in running the monthly and annual planning cycle, stress testing scenario planning and providing financial analysis and insight to enable strategic and operational decisions across the company.

You will have had experience in analytics and be a commercial thinker with an eye for detail. By building strong relationships and best practice processes you will drive robust, insightful and accurate business insights/analysis that will guide strategic decision making and resource allocation.

You will inform and influence executive stakeholders, communicating complex financial analysis through clear and simple insights and technical improvements across the business unit.

Freedom of action/ Dimensions

  • Support the FP&A team in delivering in-year forecast and 3-5 year Plan projections, and surrounding analysis.

  • Lead on the monthly preparation of the latest estimate and reporting of variances vs Plan to key stakeholders (FP&A team, Commercial Finance Director, MU).

  • Analyse monthly Profit and loss performance to date against forecast expectations and identify drivers of value and sensitivities around these.

  • Prepare detailed analysis of actual KPI of performance against Plan and latest forecast, and perform sensitivity analysis.

  • Support the FP&A team with Monthly reporting of financial drivers and insights to the BGUK Market Unit Financial Planning & Reporting team, BINS team and Bupa Global Executive Leadership Team.

  • Make regular decisions / provide guidance and advice, in support of business needs in line with existing policies and procedures.

  • Develop good working relationships with key stakeholders across the business.


  • Accountabilities
  • Assist the FP&A Manager by co-ordinating end to end processes for Bupa Global planning; month end processes for latest forecast, and annual plan for Bupa Global.

  • Develop a deep understanding of the planning components / drivers/ models and including the ability to handle complexity, explain key drivers and sensitivities around performance.

  • Oversight for consistency and accuracy of forecasting and planning. Along with the enhancement of business intelligence capabilities and processes.

  • Review monthly results and variances to plan, latest forecast and prior year to assess accuracy of planning, inform future planning and maximise business outcomes.

  • Work alongside the FP&A Manager and Head of FP&A to define and deliver information requirements for senior management. Be proactive in suggesting analysis that will benefit understanding of the business.

  • Produce monthly variance analysis, sensitivity analysis, reports, and presentations for BG/MU leadership to enable understanding of planning and good decision making.

  • Support entity level planning, including BINS related planning as a sub-set of wider Bupa Global.

  • Build upon existing BI/Reporting capabilities in partnership with the MI teams.

  • Be proactive in identifying improvements to planning process and working with MI teams in delivering any relevant technical changes.

  • Build and maintain strong business partnering relationships, including building collaborative partnerships within the finance community and Actuarial stakeholders to ensure accountability for accuracy and timeliness of data, and proactively support and drive improvements to reporting and data.

  • Build strong relationships at all levels across BGMU functions and the Finance Team. Establish trust with stakeholders.

  • Promote best practice, and continuous improvement of processes and procedures.

  • To maintain governance and control requirements, ensuring all internal governance requirements are met, including full compliance with all policies, audit actions, monitoring actions and risk appetite.

    Outstanding financial skills coupled with strong commercial acumen.

  • Strong analytical skills - skilled at analysing large amounts of data in a way which identified key financial drivers and allows for the sharing of clear and concise insights, often via visualisations, with stakeholders.

  • Strong Excel and system skills, with the ability to quickly learn new system processes.

  • Anaplan, Oracle and Power BI experience would be an advantage.

  • Excellent organisational, prioritisation and communication skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • Inquisitive attitude, seeking to obtain deep understanding of the business while balancing the bigger picture

  • Demonstrated ability to design and develop business performance reporting on financial and non-financial data, providing clear and insightful information for decision making.

  • Experience of Anaplan preferable (though not essential). Other useful system familiarity includes Power BI and Oracle.
