Full Job Description

The Senior Manager, Production Safety provides direction and management to a team of professional Managers, Production Safety, to provide technical advice and guidance to productions and live events. This team will be responsible for hiring, training and auditing the Safety Advisor engaged on each Production.

In partnership with Operations, this position will play a vital role in building strong partnerships with Production Executives and relationships with Producers and HoD's. This is to ensure our productions are managed safely while remaining on schedule and budget.

The Senior Manager, Production Safety is also a point of contact on technical safety matters for various corporate divisions, including Legal, Labour Relations, Community/Governmental affairs, Human Resources and Risk Management within the region and regulatory bodies

Areas of Responsibility

  • In partnership with Studio and Enterprise Risk Management stakeholders, review emerging regulations and industry incidents, develop and update departmental plans, production safety policies and programs, and cast/crew training.

  • Work with key stakeholders to develop a consistent set of policies across all Segments Productions to set one Company standard.

  • In partnership with Studio and ERM stakeholders, develop the model and policies required for Third Party Productions

  • Support the Director, Production Operations on the model and policies required Productions across and EMEA. In addition, for Third Party Productions based in different countries and how they will be audited.

  • Build relationships with Production Executives to be their point of contact on production safety and regulatory compliance matters.

  • Build strong relationships with Producers, Production Managers and Heads of Department to be a partner and technical point of contact during all phases of Production.

  • Conduct regular walks of production sets and workshops to ensure production safety standards are adhered to and the Production remains on schedule.

  • Participate in industry-wide organizations (such as JACE) and meetings as well as represent the Company and Productions when communicating with representatives of regulatory bodies (such as HSE).

  • In partnership with the Senior Manager, Production Operations, liaise with landlords to understand facilities and maintenance plans

  • Review all Production activity in EMEA and distribute the Productions to the Managers, Production Safety fairly.

  • With support of HR, develop a recruitment and training process to create a talent pool of Production Safety Advisors crew members. Ensuring they are trained to Production Safety standards.

  • Lead, manage, audit, mentor and assist Production Safety team in their overall responsibilities for supporting production management, heads of department, supervisors and safety teams on all assigned productions. ] Assign individual productions to Production Safety Managers.

    Substantial, proven experience leading and developing a team

  • Proven ability to formulate, manage and deliver successful Safety programs and policies

  • Diploma in NEBOSH or Graduate IOSH or equivalent

  • Solid relationship management with clients, Third Party Companies, Suppliers and Vendors

  • Strong commercial experience and budget management

  • Strong people management skills

  • Proven ability to set practical direction in ambiguous situations, Excellent leadership capabilities including the ability to inspire the team and build respect amongst colleagues

  • Strong proven expertise in Health and Safety

  • Knowledge of Productions or proven ability to quickly learn new industries

  • Strong Presentation Skills

  • Strong Business Sense
