Full Job Description

Mayhill unit is the day surgery unit based in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. We are seeking an motivated nurse leader with a shared vision in delivery of the very best patient experience and outcomes, whilst continuing to strive for quality improvements in partnership with the multidisciplinary team. With 70% of all elective surgery now being delivered as day surgery the team is integral to delivering the elective recovery plan., To operationally lead and manage the Day Surgery nursing team in Gloucester showcasing clinical excellence and promoting innovative practice.

Be a role model, providing regular direct clinical care.

Support the implementation of both clinical and non-clinical governance and facilitating the modernisation of patient services.

The successful applicant will be embarking on a 12 month secondment managing the day surgery team in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital delivering exceptional care for the patients attending the unit. They will lead the Day Surgery team as a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse working alongside the other Sisters/Charge nurses on the unit to support the team and reporting to the Matron. They will be ambitious, proactive and highly motivated embracing compassionate leadership principles demonstrating kindness and respect with excellent communication and interpersonal skills., Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

Supportive to all team members and other members of the multidisciplinary team we work closely with.

Have the skills to communicate with colleagues, patients and their relatives with sensitivity and empathy

To manage effectively the funded establishment of the ward through recruitment, retention and development of staff.

To have knowledge of clinical governance, policy and procedure and quality assurance frameworks

To demonstrate clinical expertise, role-modelling high standards of care, evidence based practice and effective leadership within UK law, NMC and Trust policies and guidelines.

Have the ability to work under pressure in an ever changing, challenging environment whilst maintaining excellent standards of patient care
