Full Job Description

We are seeking a Studio Technical Operator to control the video and audio technical systems, workflow, configurations and troubleshooting within a GDS digital show environment, with a focus on expanding our virtual production offering. This role will allow you to be heavily involved in the company's studio environment operations and delivery requirements related to its technical configurations.
As the Studio Technical Operator, you will collaborate with the company's in-house Production, Creative, Video, Producer and Presenting teams - delivering BAU high quality studio outputs to exceptional standards.
While operational, this role has a heavy focus on development, and you will be involved in the creation of new and exciting products as we bring them to market.
This is an on-site role. You will be an integral part of our studio team 5 days a week.,

  • Operating studio equipment during productions, working with our creative and production teams to ensure that delivery is consistent and to a high standard.

  • Assisting our product team with the ongoing development of shows. Based on Unreal Engine and using Aximmetry as a virtual production controller.

  • Setting up and testing video and audio systems well ahead of rehearsals, live shows and recordings.

  • Report and troubleshoot production issues and show challenges in-studio and operational delivery, providing viable solutions to unique and complex situations.

  • Running and monitoring the virtual environment using a real-time graphics engine (Aximmetry / Unreal), ensuring full functionality and performance.

  • Setting up and running live graphics and playback systems for overlays, presentations and VTs.

  • Routing video playback, live remote speakers, and audience members via NDI into the virtual environment, vision mixer and comfort screens.

  • Creating macro buttons and cues to operate all programs in an agile workflow.

  • Mixing analogue and digitally patched audio (Dante) from numerous sound sources.

  • Identifying development opportunities within the production environment to maximise workflow efficiencies and output quality.

    Experience using Aximmetry Virtual production software

  • Deep understanding of Unreal engine, on which our system is based.

  • Solid experience in AV system architecture, setup, and maintenance.

  • Hands-on expertise with industry-standard software and hardware tools, with a keen interest in exploring and mastering new technologies.

  • A proactive approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving, with a knack for foreseeing and mitigating technical challenges.

  • An understanding of the digital event landscape, from networking to real-time content delivery.

  • Experience in working collaboratively within tech-driven teams, translating complex technical jargon into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.

  • Desirable: Proficiency with code or blueprints. This skillset will be helpful when interfacing with our development team.

  • Desirable: Experience using virtual production skills in a live environment.
