Full Job Description

We provide support to adults aged 18-65 years old who have Learning Difficulties, Mental Health, Physical Disabilities, Autism and many more. The Ark Centre is based in the Acocks Green Area and provide support to citizens all over the Birmingham area.

A brief summary of the tasks involved will include:

· Preparing and Serving service users lunch where possible support service citizens to prepare their own meals, supporting citizens to eat and drink at regular times following a healthy diet or prescribed meal plan, this may include help with feeding.

· Supporting the citizens with the safe keeping of their personal effects, managing their money, provide main office with all payments provided from the citizens.

· Supporting citizens with developing and maintain on their independent living skills, tiding up after an activity, keeping area clean and free from clutter.

· Supporting the citizens with continence, use of the toilet, and personal hygiene. You may need to support the citizen to address their personal hygiene needs, working with care plans and educating on the importance of washing, showering, and bathing, apply lotions to skin where prescribed to do so.

· Participate in all citizens daily activities and may include swimming, going to the gym, appointments and attend day trips.

· Respecting the citizen as a unique individual who has role and community presence and ensure the safety and well-being of individuals at all times.

· Supporting the citizen to take their prescribed medication according to their individual care plan and PRN protocols.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Empathy and compassion for individuals with disabilities or special needs
- Patience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of individuals
- Basic computer skills for documentation purposes,

  • GCSE or equivalent (preferred)

  • Home care: 2 years (preferred)

  • Driving Licence (preferred)
