Full Job Description

The Geography Department at Sir Thomas Rich's School comprises teachers who are hardworking and passionate about their subject and who strive to develop the intellectual curiosity of our students. Geography is a very popular subject in the school with significant numbers opting for Geography at both GCSE and A-Level. The School follows the OCR specification at GCSE and Eduqas course at A Level. Regular fieldtrips in all key stages are popular with students, and help to extend learning about people and place beyond the classroom, testing theories and concepts in real-world scenarios. Currently, there is a mix of five full and part time teachers who work collaboratively to plan and find new and exciting ways of teaching their subject. Variety, relevance and challenge are central to their pedagogy. For more information, please refer to the attachments below.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a creative, highly motivated, outstanding graduate to teach either Geography, Religious Education or History at Key Stage 3, and Geography from Key Stage 4 to Oxbridge entry. This permanent full-time post (part-time may be considered for the right candidate) would be equally well suited to an ambitious ECT or a more experienced teacher willing to contribute to the extra-curricular life of the School. We offer exceptional opportunities for professional development and we remain dedicated to mentoring and supporting our staff.

Our accomplished teachers use their skills and in-depth subject knowledge to inspire, encourage and support our students in their journey through the School, laying firm foundations for academic excellence at GCSE, in our Sixth Form and beyond. Our excellent support staff show high levels of commitment to the School and work hard to manage all non-teaching aspects of school life effectively.
