Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Woking and Sam Beare Hospice for a Therapy Assistant to join our friendly therapy team, delivering and developing palliative care therapy services for people facing progressive and life limiting conditions across our catchment area in North West Surrey.

Our therapy team consists of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Therapy Assistants. We work closely with a team of Clinical Nurse Specialists, Palliative Care doctors, our Hospice at Home team, Counsellors, Complimentary therapists and are involved in supporting our Wellbeing Unit. The locations we see patients in are varied and this post involves inpatient as well as community work. The ability to travel in your own car to visit patients at home or complete access visits is essential.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated therapy assistant, who is able to use their experience, communication skills and initiative to help us deliver patient-centred care. Ideally you will have experience in working as a therapy or healthcare assistant within the healthcare service and/or within palliative care at Band 3 level. As a therapy assistant you will be working under the guidance and supervision of physiotherapists and occupational therapists, carrying your own allocated caseload and being able to feedback any observations or concerns as required.

ou will have excellent communication skills and be confident to exchange information with patients and their carers requiring tact, support and reassurance. You will be expected to represent the therapy team in MDT meetings on the inpatient unit as well as in the community and be confident working alongside other healthcare professionals and within the wider multi-disciplinary team.

Woking and Sam Beare Hospice is a regional charity organisation working closely with its NHS partners to provide excellent care to patients and their families. Operating from a bespoke building in Goldsworth Park in Woking, the Charity provides inpatient and community services across North West Surrey. Goldsworth Park is close to all major road networks and the Hospice offers ample free car parking.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
