ForFarmers are the market leader across Europe and have aspirational targets and results. Within the business, we have a commodity trading department who work alongside all key stakeholders, internally and externally.
This role is based in Shepshed, at the heart of our business and requires direct communication with our end user, the farmer. Our aim is to market the best products at the keenest prices with the best possible service.
So what do our Traders do?

  • Keeping up to speed with market events. Prices, weather, economic changes. Reading industry/shippers updates, checking currency, keeping an eye on material prices

  • Focused prospecting, using applications such as C4C and great communication with the field teams and other key stakeholders

  • Pricing enquiries. Whether it be incoming or from your calls, a large portion of time can be spent ensuring you're going back to the customer with most competitive price.

  • Scheduling deliveries / keeping on top of regular customer deliveries

  • Problem Solving

  • Dealing with credit and working closely with the credit control team

  • Speaking with hauliers. Having a good knowledge of what haulage costs are, which hauliers will do what, what vehicles are available in which areas, all a big help in all of the pricing you do.

  • Contract balances/managing the rent bills. Keeping an eye on the material you have in the book and the sales that we have. Making sure the off take of contracts sold is inline and thus keeping the cost to the business in rental charges is in line with targets.

  • Weekly commodity report. Responsibility for writing/compiling straights info for the weekly commodity report that goes out to the business/customers/LinkedIn

  • Processing all sales orders and purchases

  • Maintaining/updating CRM system with all relevant interactions, quotes, info updates

  • Attending relevant sales meetings

  • Involved in weekly raw material calls for the business. Getting insight into the businesses outlook on markets and purchasing

  • Industry events. Various corn traders association dinners, networking events, the odd corporate day out

  • Visiting customers (as required)

    Either an ability to sell (with proven track record) or a keenness to join the Sales world, wanting to achieve given the right training and support

  • Selling skills / experience

  • Strong personal presence.

  • Highly developed listening, selling, presentational and coaching skills.

  • Pro-active, good negotiator, excellent communication skills, self motivated and able to motivate team, IT literate, numerate, and financially aware

  • Current full driving licence

  • Flexibility to attend National and local sales meetings as required.
