Menzies Distribution have an immediate start available for a Transport Senior Supervisor to join us, providing a first class service with our team in Louth. You will be responsible for the execution of transport plans ensuring transport and network SLA's/KPI's are achieved as well as developing and building efficient routes whilst maximising vehicle capacity, ensuring all work is distributed whilst complying with Transport Legislation, Health & Safety, and customer service requirements. You will also ensure that the customer's products are on time and in full using the most cost effective means possible and best use of available resources including maximising the utilisation of Menzies Drivers in line with current driver hours and WTD legislation and ensure the transport planning operations are in line with budgeted costs and achieve all contractual KPI's.,

  • Ensure that your Site Planners plan all relevant customer deliveries utilising the software available at site to ensure delivery windows are met.

  • Liaise with the Customer as required in relation to delays and possible issues with delivery.

  • Develop back haul lanes with both Menzies depots and 3rd party customers whilst maintaining fleet utilisation.

  • Co-ordinate a late load report in line with operational requirements and deadlines.

  • Ensure your Site Planners are compliant with the Working Time Directive.

  • Ensure that the Site Planners regularly Download Driver cards for analysis

  • Ensure that the Site Planners Comply with all Transport legislation reducing tachograph infringements to below the company target and adhering to WTD regulations.

  • Communicate routes to and liaise with other Menzies Depots

  • Through liaising with your Site Planners that you are fully aware of any delays and possible issues with delivery.

  • Source local agency drivers as and when required (in conjunction with our PSL (Preferred Suppliers List)) providing an accurate brief of job required.

  • Source local sub-contractors as and when required.

  • Ensure that Site Planners are aware that the loads meet safety standards.

  • Manage the Site Planners ensuring they are using the most efficient start times.

  • Ensure adequate Pre-Briefing of Drivers is taking place by the Transport Supervisors to ensure that they fully understand their instructions.

  • Ensure adequate De-Briefing of Drivers, by the Transport Supervisors, upon their return to ensure that all documentation has been completed correctly.

  • Ensure compliance with Agency Driver checklist.

  • Record trailer information on all inbound/outbound deliveries and stand trailers.

  • Fully understand and communicate agreed KPI's for Department

  • All other transport office related duties

  • Ensuring all drivers are appropriately trained and familarised with both operations and equipment

  • From time to time, you may be requested to deputise for the Manager on daily plan/do/review calls

  • Manage Driver performance to identify any major discrepancies in accordance with the Daily Transport Plan

  • Manage operational costs and identification of cost performance trends - i.e., fuel performance/accidents etc.

  • Liaise with and feedback to driver agencies for ad-hoc and peak driver support

  • Ability to cover all roles and the depot manager in their absence

  • Preparing and submitting various KPI reports.

  • Be proactive in achieving improved fuel efficiency and better MPG. · Manage tacho-graph infringements to full compliance.

  • Complete accident reports and be able to update risk assessments, contributing to a positive safety culture.

  • Support the personal development of all people employed on the contract.

  • Carry out performance reviews with the team identifying training needs.

  • Create an effective working environment building a diverse, well-balanced team.

  • To ensure all subcontractors and suppliers are authorised and provide the most cost-effective operational solution. ·

  • Create a positive working environment with a culture of continuous improvement and exceeding customer expectations by supporting with CI projects

  • Dealing with customer complaints and investigations in the agreed time.

    People management skills

  • Experience of working in a busy Transport office

  • Knowledge of Drivers Hours, Tachograph and WTD legislation

  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement.

  • Good standard of education

  • IT literate

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety

  • Commercial understanding

  • Knowledge of transport systems.

    Salary: £35K Per Annum

  • Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday

  • Hours: 45 Hours Per Week
