Full Job Description

These are exciting times at JLR; we are right in the middle of developing the next generation of electrification technologies and electrified vehicle models that will define the future of our iconic brands.

The Vehicle Development Technician will play a crucial part in the development of our prototype vehicles to support validation of thermal and interior air quality system solutions. This responsibility will include vehicle hardware, software & instrumentation updates and fixes - to ensure that test assets are fit for purpose throughout their testing life.

The person as part of the Climate Control Systems Test Team will be required to work collaboratively with Vehicle Development Engineers, Product Development & Instrumentation workshop personnel to carry out issue investigation and hardware & software update activities.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for Health & Safety of self and others.


  • Initial issue diagnosis using CAN data logs or physical inspection and/ or testing.


  • Carry out minor hardware and instrumentation repairs.


  • Proactive approach - communicate issues, ask questions and collaborate with others to solve problems.


  • Ensure that work is carried out as efficiently and as quickly as possible.


  • Mobility to work across multiple UK sites and overseas as required by the team.


  • Complete training as required for the role.

    Strong technical knowledge and experience of vehicle assembly & disassembly.


  • Strong technical knowledge and experience of vehicle instrumentation.


  • Experience using Vector diagnostic tools - CANalyzer or CANoe.


  • Desire to learn and develop into a key member of a high performing team.


  • Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision.


  • Experience or a willingness to be involved with overseas vehicle test activities.


  • Full UK driving license.
