Full Job Description

Here at Ashleigh Vets, we are looking for a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly supportive team. This is a unique opportunity to experience a wide range of exotic species within an experienced and supportive environment.

We work with many local colleges, charities, and private collections of exotic companion animals, as well as wildlife. This enables our exotics team to enjoy contact with a varied exotic caseload on a daily basis.

You will be working mainly with the exotics team, joining our existing 4 exotics vets within our fully equipped exotic's suite. We currently have 2 certificate holders, and 2 further vets in the middle of their exotic's certificates. We are also lucky to have several nurses with the Certificate in Veterinary Nursing of Exotic Species. We aim to provide up to date, evidence based treatment and are actively involved in presenting and publishing in this field.

We are well equipped with all the facilities needed to provide the best modern treatment for the well-being and comfort of our patients. Our equipment includes digital X-ray, video endoscopy, ultrasound etc. We have a very good reputation in the region drawing clients and referrals from a wide area.

Ashleigh Vets currently has twelve Veterinary Surgeons, eleven Registered Veterinary Nurses, three Trainee Nurses, seven Auxiliary Veterinary Nurses, eight Receptionists and a Practice Manager.
We are a very friendly and welcoming team. Meeting up outside of work was very common before covid, but we have started to do that again!

The rota:
4 days a week, 1 weekend (mornings only) in 5 - 6, Shift patterns on weekdays are a mix of 9 - 4 and 9 - 7. There is a separate out of hours team, but you will be 2nd on call one day a week and one weekend in 5 primarily for advise for the out of hours vet or nurse.
The hours are flexible but most of the team do a 4-day week.

Experience, or a keen interest in working with exotic species
. Must be a team player who is keen to learn, and in turn support others in this process
. And finally. Some would say most importantly-Must be friendly, and able to have a laugh too!

The Salary will be up to £50,000 depending on experience and certification.
