Full Job Description

The Weighbridge Operator is responsible for providing support to the Wharf Manager and for recording weights of cargoes being loaded and unloaded to and from ships holds or to and from road transport, stores.
In addition, providing first line security to the Port or Tanker Berth during working hours.

The Weighbridge Operator is the front of house contact, so will greet visitors, contractors and drivers to the site. They will be responsible for using the weighbridge software (full training provided) as their main task through the week. They will also be responsible for basic security to the site (training provided) by means of signing people in/out.

Weighbridge Operators will be working 30hrs on a rotating weekly shift pattern of:

Week 1: 0600 - 1200
Week 2: 1200 - 1800

Monday to Friday with some weekend work required.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Recording and calculating inputs and outputs of stock using weighbridge software.

  • Producing weighbridge tickets to support the auditable trail.

  • Supporting the Wharf Supervisor by controlling wheeled freight on the quay.

  • Working to TASCC (Trading Assurance Scheme for Combinable Crops) standards by checking the cleanliness of trailer butts prior to loading feed.

  • Providing first line security to the Port by controlling access and egress.

  • Supporting a positive regime of Health and Safety on the wharf ensuring the correct PPE is worn by visitors and contractors.

  • Providing excellent customer service.

    Previous knowledge of working in a busy environment, monitoring stock control using weighbridge software to produce weighbridge tickets for audit and working to TASCC standards is desirable however, full training will be given.

  • Previous customer service experience with good communication skills.
    You will need to be computer literate and also must be willing to work flexible hours, including some weekends when required.
  • You will need to live within a commutable distance to Plymouth for this role
